Guitar: Lesson 22

Fitting the Diminished Arpeggio into the Scale

By Zack Cart

Prerequisites:

You should be able to understand and perform the concepts and techniques outlined in the following lessons before attempting this lesson:

Guitar: Lessons 1-21

Music Theory: Lessons 1-11

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The previous two lessons explained the locations of the major and minor arpeggios within the scale. This lesson will do the same with the diminished arpeggio. However, there will be only one arpeggio per scale pattern, as the diminished chord/arpeggio occurs only in one place within the scale, unlike major and minor which occur three times each.

The arpeggio will be shown in Red, while the other four notes of the scale will be purple.
